When Kitchen Kitchen celebrated their 35th anniversary last November, owner Jan Boydstun(The Gadget Gal) reflected on the history of the business that was started by her parents, Phil and Charlotte Carter in 1979. “Little did I know when they asked me to help out for just four months, how my life would change!” Now 26 years later, with husband Gary and their three sons helping out, the meaning of a family business has never been more true! Jan has built on the success of her parents, and it is Jan’s smile, infectious laugh and warm personality that has created the family legacy.

In 2009, this legacy was perceptibly integrated into the store with the addition of the kitchen in the new location. This is where the famous mural painted in 1989 honoring Jan’s parents is mounted on the wall. “We built this kitchen as a tribute to Mom and Dad which is why it has added so much warmth to the store. We have cooking classes here and host private events where the customer customdesigns their menu from appetizer to dessert!” They also have free cooking demos offering food samples and helpful hints on Free Fun Fridays from 11:00am-1:00pm. There is always something fun going on!

Walking into Kitchen Kitchen is like entering a treasure trove! They have an entire wall of gadgets, including the square egg press, the Mystic Maid cleaning cloth (their number one seller!) and those unique, hard to find items for “The Chef in You!” They also carry gourmet coffee and specialty foods including an array of salts, sauces and salsas. You will find upscale serving pieces from Nambe, Le Crueset and Scan Pan cookware from Denmark making this your number one choice for all your special occasions and everyday cooking needs.

Jan has done over 500 gadget demos all over the valley at various schools, charities and private clubs, along with teaching marketing strategies at industry trade shows. You can also catch her half hour infomercial on local TV.

As for the future, Jan is about to embark on a new venture hosting a cooking show at local restaurants called “What’s Cooking with Jan Boydstun” which will air Saturday nights 7pm on KMIR. With all of this going on, you can see why Kitchen Kitchen has been rated “Best of the Valley” serving all of you…” The Best Customers of the Valley!”

Allan and Shauna Pitchko’s passion for collecting art, developed long before opening their gallery in Rancho Mirage, it started in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1988, where they owned “Antiques Alberta”.

Loving the California desert in winter, they bought a home in Rancho Mirage and decided to open a Gallery on El Paseo. Deeply involved in collecting art and antiques, they found they needed more room. When a beautiful piece of commercial property with 12,000 sq. ft. building became available in Rancho Mirage, on Highway 111, they purchased it in 2011 and opened for business in January 2012.

On entering this elegant showroom you will find high-end antiques, fine art and objects d’art, 18th, 19th and 20th century European and American paintings and bronzes. There is a variety of accessories and historical finds from Georgian and Victorian furniture to sterling silver, estate jewelry, art glass and fine china. Oriental antiques including unique porcelain and bronze pieces can be found here.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, its authentic European ambiance will transport you to a café in Brussels.

Pomme Frite has attracted a serious following of food aficionados since it opened thanks to its simplicity and by consistently serving superior cuisine with pride but without European pomp. This quaint and cozy bistro features Belgian specialties, moderately priced, including mouth-watering steamed black mussels and Flemish style beef stew (simmered in Belgian beer). A wide selection of Belgian beers, French and California wines is also available to whet your palette.

The aromas emanating from the kitchen are enchanting and mellow even the most severe food critics. And for mussel lovers – this is the place. Mussels prepared nine different ways, accompanied by fresh cut and crispy Pommes Frites and homemade dipping sauces. Topped off with a Belgian chocolate mousse on a bed of vanilla créme Anglaise for dessert, it simply doesn’t get any better than this.

Your host and owner, Jean-Claude Constant, surveys the tables and takes great pride in the caring and attentive service. The charming old-world patio is perfect for street and people watching on Palm Canyon Drive, and the dreamy French music insures a relaxing and romantic dining experience.
